Rest in Peace to Urban Decay’s Original Naked Palette

Everyone deserves a funeral when they die, even eyeshadow palettes.

SAY IT ISN’T SO?! For what seems like the #1 eyeshadow palette in this entire universe, you would think that it would live forever. Sadly that isn’t the case, since Urban Decay has announced today that their Naked Palette will be discontinued. And they announced it in the best and fairest way possible. A very chic funeral involving some of the top beauty gurus who had some memorable words to say about our dear palette and an epic eulogy by Nicole Richie.

“We are gathered here today to mourn our beloved Naked Palette, a revolutionary product that changed the beauty industry forever. A little bit naughty, often dramatic, and always in the press, the innovative game-changer and category creator will be laid to rest after 8 years.” – Urban Decay captioned their funeral video for our dear Naked.

Kandee Johnson, Christen Dominique, Katy DeGroot, Shayla Mitchell, Chrisspy, and Nicole Richie all gathered around the game-changing eyeshadow palette to pay their respects and say their final goodbyes. It’s good to know that this is being treated like a real death in the makeup industry, because it is. Everyone deserves a funeral when they die, even eyeshadow palettes.

“Saying goodbye to NAKED is extremely bittersweet,” founding partner of Urban Decay Wende Zomnir said in a press release. “It was a big moment in our history. It’s a little painful to leave your past behind, but it’s also essential to always evolve. I will forever miss NAKED, but we plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in NAKED’s memory and honor — just wait and see.”

Now it’s time to say your final goodbyes to Virgin, Sin, Naked, SideCar, Buck, Half Baked, Smog, DarkHorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep, and last but not least GunMetal. All of you will be missed dearly, as you created some killer smokey eyes in your day. R.I.P.
