For makeup wearers, blush is an essential in any routine. Blush brings out more color to the face and depending on how much you apply, it can give you a more natural look. It gives you the subtle flushed look into your makeup look which complements the rest of the products on your face very lovely. If blush isn’t in your current makeup routine I highly recommend you add it to the lineup.
As a black woman, I often find that I have to choose carefully when I am purchasing blush. There are certain blush shades that just do not flatter my skin tone as other shades would. While super bright pink and red shades aren’t totally my enemy, because like I said it depends on the application, over the years I’ve come to find out that other shades such as peach, bronze, light red and medium pink shades do flatter my skin so much more. Of course black people come in so many beautiful shades, so it does depend on what color of blush fits yours. A black person with a dark skin tone might find that bronze, red, or fuchsia shades may flatter her skin to the fullest, while a black person with light skin can depend on pale peach and coral shades to give her that natural and flushed look she’s looking for.
I have some unfortunate and fortunate news for people of color. Unfortunately, there are some brands that still don’t believe that we are important enough or our skin even matters for them to create shades within their products that flatter our brown & deep-to-dark skin tones. What’s even more unfortunate is that those brands are still in business. But fortunately, we have brands out there that do care about our skin tones and creating shades that make us feel beautiful. Today I want to celebrate these brands by sharing some of my favorite blush products available online, that really flatter black skin. When browsing this list, you should also keep your skin type in mind, as certain product types (i.e. cream or powder) might work better for you than others. You might also notice that most of these brands cater to black women so much more than other brands might, so take note of that and try some of their other products as well!
